ISTE-T 4 Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility
a. Advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.
This is an assignment I had to create during my program but I think could easily cross over into an assignment with younger students. It is important for students to be aware of Creative Commons and what that means for them. As a 2nd grade teacher, I talk a great deal about not copying word for word from the book unless they have been given permission. Encouraging students to know their sources and properly cite them is critical in this new digital age.

b. Address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.

I created this Prezi to introduce a great learner-centered way to teach reading. I practice Daily 5 in my classroom everyday. My idea is that I would use this presentation to introduce the concept to my colleagues. This presentation covers all aspects of the learning strategy but is brief enough to appeal to all levels of understanding.

c. Promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to use of technology and information.
Throughout the MsEd: Information Technology I have learned the importance of implementing technology. Allowing my students opportunity to be exposed to technology is a priority every week. My school recently purchased chrome books and as a teacher I can check them out for an allotted time to use in the classroom. Each week my students have at least 1 hour with a laptop where they are asked to complete various assignments or practice their typing skills. Throughout this exposure we discuss as a class how to be responsible and use technology appropriately. Students are assigned an email address as soon as they enter our school. Before students are taught to use email and other laptop functions we discuss as a class digital etiquette and how things said via technology will be forever in their lives.
d. Devlop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues ad students of other cultures using digital age communication and collaboration tools.
This website is a compilation of different tools I would use to work with English Language Learners. Technology is a way to bridge the gap between two languages so I wanted to create a site that would have all my technology tools online. This website is a great tool to use with colleagues to introduce and collaborate multiple ways to use technology in the classroom.
